The Logs tab on the Jobs Detail screen displays process logs generated during the Transformation step of a Job. These logs are also available in the CIC Studio in the Auditor. These logs are a valuable resource for users who want detailed information about the CIC processes or want to troubleshoot an issue without logging into the CIC Studio.
Note: Users who are able to view Job Details should be able to view the Auditor Logs as well. If this is not the case, make sure the user has "Access to Integration Configuration" permission (see Controlling data access and user permissions in Managing Users) or the CIC Engine in use is the latest version. If you don't know what version of CIC Engine you are using, contact Cleo for assistance.
Displaying Auditor Log Data
To display Auditor logs in the CIC Cockpit, go to the Job Details screen, click the Transformation step, and then click the Log tab.
Job details from the Auditor are shown as a list of processes.
The processes displayed are limited to those whose events are captured in the Cockpit. This is not an exhaustive list of processes for the Job. In addition, only processes that are complete (successful or failed) are displayed on the list. The processes displayed in the list (sorted by process number) represent all the messages that are transformed for all the payloads.
For each process, the list includes a success/failure icon, the name of the process, and a timestamp/duration. Click the icon at the top of the timestamp column to toggle between the two values. The timestamps shown in the process list are browser/client time, whereas the timestamps shown in the Logs themselves (on the right) are server time.
When you click on a process, the corresponding Auditor log details display on the right.
Expand All/ Collapse All links will expand or collapse all the steps in the process.
Each step title shows the name of the step and status icon. And the paper clip on the right side of the step indicates that data is present in the step.
Click the step to display its contents, including links to data contained in the step.
Click a data link to display the Log data.
If you attempt to view Log data larger than 5MB, the CIC Cockpit displays the following message:
In this case, you can use the CIC Studio to view the Log data.
Viewing Ruleset Details
Those with the ability to view Jobs in the CIC Cockpit can also see specific Ruleset details in Logs.
This greatly reduces the time and effort it takes to troubleshoot failed transformations.
When a Business Process step involves a Ruleset, a link to that Ruleset is displayed. Should a BP step fail, the logs will display the Rule where the failure/error happened. Both the link and error are shown here.
Clicking the Ruleset link displays the Ruleset Viewer, shown here.
When users can identify which rule caused the failure, they can also infer the variable within the Rule that is causing the failure. Users can search for variables within the Ruleset (Ctrl+F/Browser Search).
This should prove helpful to identify the root cause of data quality-related integration failures.
A Ruleset can be executed without calling the Transformation step specifically and by calling the Ruleset directly.
Please note that the Ruleset Viewer will work only for Transformation and Data Analysis Rulesets, not certain Rulesets that are built into the Product by default.
