Certification Program
Cloud Developer Certification
A hybrid program combining self-paced video learning, hands-on exercises, and expert-guided sessions. Build real-world integrations and earn your Cloud Certification.
The program is divided into two phases combining structured training and real-world application.
Phase 1: Cloud Comprehensive Video Course (Hands-on)
The CE203 Cloud Comprehensive hands-on video course offers generalized instruction on retrieving documents from a trading partner, transforming them into a format compatible with internal systems, and sending related documents back. Please note: the course content is not tailored to any specific implementation or back-end configuration.
Included Content: Manuals, expert-guided meetings, video learning, assessments, and hands-on exercises in a Cleo-provided AWS instance.
Video Duration: 10 hours
Typical Phase Timeline: 2 to 3 weeks
Included Resources: Cleo Learning All-Access Course Catalog
Phase 2: Cloud Certification Project
This phase allows you to apply what you've learned by creating an industry-specific project for your company. Your project must demonstrate proficiency with the tool by meeting the provided requirements.
Included Content: Hands-on exercises, expert-guided meetings, and an industry-specific project assessment.
Typical Phase Timeline: 2 to 3 weeks
Developer Certification Completion Timeline: Participants can typically achieve certification within 4 to 6 weeks.
Including meetings, assessments, video reviews, and studying the user manual, participants generally engage with the program for approximately 35 to 40 total hours.
*Scheduling meetings and delays due to customer or instructor availability may affect this timeframe.
In phase 1 the CE203 course covers integration concepts, pipeline logic, business process structure, data grouping, and routing from the ground up. There are three areas where prior knowledge will meaningfully improve your experience.
EDI Standards Knowledge
The course uses raw X12 EDI throughout — 850 Purchase Orders, 810 Invoices, and 997 Functional Acknowledgements at the 004010 version. ISA/GS/ST envelope values are used directly to configure Inbound EDI Routes, and individual segment and element names are mapped in Rulesets. There is no introduction to EDI basics in the course material.
Learners should arrive with working familiarity with X12 structure: envelope hierarchy, segment names, element positions, and how ISA/GS sender/receiver IDs are used to identify trading partners.
Data Mapping Concepts
The Ruleset editor is used throughout the course to map source data fields to target data fields. The mechanics are demonstrated step by step, but the concept of data mapping is assumed — learners who have never done it before may be able to follow the steps without understanding why.
Prior experience with any mapping tool or process — or even a structured mapping spreadsheet — provides the mental model the course builds on.
Data Formats & File Structures
The course crosses three distinct format types: EDI, XML, and delimited flat files. Familiarity with XML schema (XSD) structure, and how comma-delimited flat files work — especially multi-record, multi-format files with record identifiers — is exercised throughout the course.
Learners do not need to write XML or XSD from scratch, but should be able to read an XML document and understand how an XSD defines its structure.
NOTE: Learners who arrive with working knowledge of X12 EDI structure, source-to-target data mapping, and common data formats — EDI, XML, and delimited flat files — will be well positioned to focus on building integrations rather than catching up on fundamentals. All other course concepts are taught from the ground up.
