An EDI Enveloper object defines a unique set of EDI values for outbound EDI processing. The EDI Enveloper contains the interchange and group element values. These values are used to envelope the EDI message generated during outbound EDI processing.
It also allows you to customize the outbound EDI document structure when being enveloped. The data is passed to a Connection Business Process for distribution.
Business Use
Since there are values in the interchange and group that must be populated in an EDI document, the Studio enforces validation of this required EDI enveloping information. In the EDI Enveloper, you can type in these values and configure different options for how the outbound EDI document is displayed. The EDI Enveloper allows you to place a carriage-return or line-feed character at the end of each segment to display the segment on a new row when viewing the data with a text editor. You can also wrap your EDI document and specify the number of characters included in the wrapping.
How the Object Works
The EDI Enveloper is required only for outbound EDI creation. It will contain the interchange and group element values for the creation of the EDI envelope of the outbound EDI document.
It allows customization to display data as wrapped or unwrapped with the desired escape wrap character and defines enveloping limitations, if necessary. The Connection Business Process is defined within the EDI Enveloper to pass the completed EDI document.
Process Summary
To use this object, you must:
- Create the object.
- Define the object by specifying which values should appear in outgoing EDI envelopes.
- Use the EDI Enveloper in an Outbound EDI Route.
