As part of the latest visual and functional improvements made to the CIC Studio, a new Beta version of the Business Process (BP) editor is now available as part of v5.2.15. While general functionality of this editor remains the same, there are several changes to the way you edit and define your BP.
The main changes include:
- New Editor enablement steps.
- BP Task editing and display options.
- Realignment of editor sections.
Enabling the new editor
To enable the beta version of the editor, select a BP from your Workspace and open with the Business Process Editor - New (Beta) option.
Note: You'll need to perform this step each time to open a BP in the new editor. A closed object will default to the standard editor when re-opening. New objects use the default editor as well.
BP Task editing and display options
Once you’ve created a Busines Process, add and define specific tasks in the Scripts pane. These BP tasks represent sequential actions that take place to execute your integration.
Select from a library of tasks used to perform numerous actions (i.e. Add, CompareValues, etc.), and objects you've created within a Project as well. An example of this is selecting a specific Ruleset as one of the steps in your BP.
For the new editor, several points are addressed.
- Task configuration
- Defining task properties
- Using labels
- Failures/Problems
- Disabling tasks
Task configuration
The Script section of the BP editor has been designed with a more modular approach for each task. You can now set properties directly from an individual task, eliminating the need to do so from another section of the editor.
Defining properties
In the new editor, the properties are now part of the Script pane, and not in a separate tab at the bottom of the editor, as in older versions.
Task Properties display when you click on a task and are hidden when you move to another.
Labels
A new Label icon now appears in a task, highlighted below. Click the icon to add your label.
Failures/Problems
- Errors now display directly within the specific BP task.
- Hovering over an error icon displays details.
Disabling and deleting tasks
- Use the ellipses icon to display options to disable or delete a task. The ability to fix parameters is available here as well.
- Disabled tasks are grayed out and display a disabled icon, highlighted below.
Realignment of editor sections
- The Parameters, Fields, and Variables panes are now located to the right of the editor.
- The Template section has been streamlined at the top of the editor.
- All Toolbars and Menus retain the same functionality.
