The Admin > Users page gives you control over users on your CIC system by displaying a list of users and allowing you to perform a variety of administrative tasks, including inviting new users, updating and deleting existing users, and controlling user permissions.
Go to Admin > Users. The Users page displays information about users in your system. Users have a role associated with them that grants some default permissions for accessing the system. Admin users can grant additional permissions that, together with a user's role, determine what access a user has to the system. See About Roles.
- Click the Add New User button . The Add Users page displays.
- In the Invite Users field, enter a list of email addresses for users you want to invite.
- Select a Role for the users you are inviting. See About Roles.
- Select a Data Access mode. See Setting up Data Access for Users.
- Specify any additional Permissions. See About User Permissions.
- Optional - Write a note to be included in the email received by invitees.
- Click Invite.
Updating User Information
Click a user's email address to display detailed information about that user. You can update the selected user's role and permissions as described in Controlling data access and user permissions.
Select one or more users and click the Delete User button . Use the check box in the table header to select all users.
Controlling data access and user permissions
You can control your users' access to partner data and permissions for certain parts of the CIC Cockpit. For example, you could restrict a user's data access to only the partners they work with and allow the user to view job information, but not reprocess messages.
You use Roles, Data Access, and Permissions to exercise this control.
A Role is a set of permissions bundled together to provide an easy way to assign those permissions to a user. A user's Role also affects how you assign partner data access (see How Roles affect Data Access) and other optional permissions (see About Permissions). There are three Roles available.
|Partner||Provides the user with access to data from a single partner and enables the Data Access section of the page so that you can select that partner. See Data Access and Setting up Data Access for Users.|
|Normal User||By default, users with the Normal role have access to all aspects of the CIC Cockpit except the Admin tab, and the four items in the Permissions section of Users page -- see About User Permissions. In addition, when you select this role, the Data Access section of the page is enabled so that you can select partners whose data this user can access. See Data Access and Setting up Data Access for Users.|
|Admin||Provides all permissions, including access to all partner data, including data displayed on theand pages, but not including the Access to Integration Configuration permission, which must be selected explicitly. In addition, the Admin role allows access to user management functionality.|
About Data Access
When you invite a user to CIC or edit an existing user, you can also specify which of your partners' data that user has access to. This is useful if, for example, you want to control the scope of a user's visibility into your CIC system or you want to limit access to a particular partner's data to a few key users.
Data access for a user is controlled by two items: the Role assigned to the user, and the partners you select for access by the user.
How Roles affect Data Access
Each role has different data access permissions. A user with the Admin role has access to data for all partners. A user with the Partner role has access to data from a single partner that you specify. A user with the Normal role can have access to no partner data, all partner data, or something in between. See Data Access Options.
Data Access Options
These Data Access Options affect only the Partner and Normal user Roles.
|Access to ALL Messages||Allows the selected user to access data from all partners. This option is only available for users assigned Normal role.|
|Access to ONLY messages from selected partners||Allows you to select which partners' data the user can access. This option is available to the Partner and User roles. However, with the Partner role, you can choose only one partner. With the Normal role, you can choose one or more partners. See Selecting partners for data access.|
Selecting partners for data access
When you click the Select Partner link, the Select Partner(s) dialog box displays.
When you assign a user the Partner role, you must select one partner. You cannot select more than one.
When you assign a user the Normal role, you must select at least one partner. You can select as many as you like.
You can select additional permissions to assign to the users you are inviting or editing.
|Access to Jobs||Allows the user to view Jobs. Always assigned to Admin users. Available for Normal users.|
|Access to Integration Configuration||Allows the user access to view and edit Endpoints, Access Points, and Data Flows. In addition, allows the user to restart the Integration Engine from within CIC. Available for Admin users and Normal users.|
|Access to Issue Comments||Allows the user to view chat sessions associated with messages and/or jobs that have issues. See Tracking issues related to messages on your system. Always assigned to Admin users. Available for Normal and Partner users.|
|Allowed to Reprocess Messages||Allows the user to reprocess messages. See Reprocessing messages. Always assigned to Admin users. Available for Normal users.|
