Certain Clarify resources require conversion if you plan to use the new transformation engine with existing Projects and objects created pre-version 4.6. These include the Business Process, SQL Access, Application Interface, Ruleset Data Object, and Database Adapter objects. Note: The Database Adapter can be compliant with older, newer, or both versions of the engine. Refer to How Database Adapters work with the New Engine for more information.
Clarify resources (Projects, objects, etc) created with the latest Clarify Studio v4.6 and higher will, by default, use the next-gen transformation engine; no conversion will be necessary.
v2 Rulesets must be created
Conversion does not apply to Version 1 Rulesets. In order to use Rulesets with the new engine, they must be created as Version 2 (the default selection when creating a Ruleset). The steps to create a Ruleset object have not changed.
Conversion Steps
The steps below describe how to perform conversion at the Project level or object level. Both will allow you to use older Clarify resources with the new transformation engine.
Upgrading Older (pre-4.6) Projects
- Projects must be open in the Project Explorer view for the upgrade to complete.
- If using multiple workspaces, the upgrade steps described here must take place for each workspace in your environment.
- New Projects created in v4.6 do not require the upgrade.
To upgrade: From the Clarify Studio’s main menu, select Project>Upgrade project configurations. All open Projects will be upgraded.
- Rebuilds the Project. This generates the required Java code for all resources.
Note: Please let this process complete; you may wish to reserve sufficient time for this process, based on number of Projects you have.
- Creates the ebi-gen directory (if one does not already exist). This folder contains Java representations of the Clarify objects per Project.
- Updates MANIFEST.MF and build.properties Java Environment to 1.7.
Your workspace should now be up-to-date with the next-gen transformation engine.
Converting individual objects
A simple conversion step in the Studio makes certain existing resources compatible with the new transformation engine in Clarify. This can be done directly from the Studio's Project Explorer view.
To convert a resource:

Right-click and select Convert.
This step must take place for each resource that requires it; however not all resources require this configuration; only certain objects will have compatibility requirements.
This does not apply for resources created in the new engine; they will be Version 2 by default.
In this example, an older Business Process has been selected for conversion.
